Through educational programming, valuable resources and groundbreaking tools that raise the bar for resident satisfaction, we strive to help our member facilities continually improve the quality of the services they offer.
Five-Star Quality
The Five-Star Quality Rating System is used to help consumers select and compare skilled nursing care centers. The rating system uses information from health care surveys (both standard and complaint), quality measures, and staffing.

NYSHFA | NYSCAL each year, during the Annual Conference & Expo, honors and recognizes outstanding achievements in the long-term care communities by its Members and volunteers.
Quality Initiative
The Quality Initiative is a national effort through the American Health Care Association and the National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) that builds upon the existing work of the long-term and post-acute care profession by setting special, measurable targets to further improve quality of care in America’s skilled nursing centers and assisted living communities.
Quality Awards
The AHCA/NCAL National Quality Award Program provides a pathway for providers of long-term and post-acute care services to journey towards performance excellence. The program is based on the core values and criteria of the Baldrige Performance Excellence Program.
Quality Improvement Organization (IPRO)
IPRO, the Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organization (QIN-QIO), under contract with CMS, is charged with supporting nursing home communities to promote improved healthcare services and quality of care for Medicare beneficiaries.
