Join our skilled instructors in this virtual series, fully compliant with NYSDOH requirements for Nurse Educators in skilled nursing facilities.

This four-session program, conducted in half-day sessions to accommodate our participants’ flexibility, will provide an opportunity to learn new skills, explore innovative adult learning strategies, and operationalize the skills and competencies needed to be an effective Nurse Educator in an SNF setting.

Nurse Educator Program

Program Details:

Registration Deadline: August 3, 2026
Member Rate: $1,450 | Non-Member Rate: $1,650
Format: 4 virtual sessions (attendance required for all)
Eligibility: Other personnel, such as LPNs, may participate in the course as a supplement to the instructor
Participants Must: Attend all 4 sessions and develop a curriculum to be presented at the final session

Key Objectives:

  • Participants will be required to develop a curriculum for a training session and present their training program at the final session

  • All participants of the program will receive copies of the various training programs developed by their classmates to tailor and use within their own facilities for staff education

  • Discussion of Adult Learner Theories / Generational Perspectives
  • Teaching Strategies and Learning Activities

September 23, 2026

  • Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP) Requirements Review
  • Annual Trainings
  • Practicum Presentations Begin

September 24, 2026

9:00 am — 1:00 pm

  • Practicum Presentations and Evaluations: Participants will present and share their training programs and receive feedback from instructors and classmates

Lisa Volk

» LISA M. VOLK, RN, BPS, LNHA
Executive Director, Foundation for Quality Care

Lisa is an RN with 40 years of experience in long-term care settings across both the proprietary and not-for-profit sectors. She has held roles as a nurse educator, director of nursing, administrator, and executive director. With a strong operational background, Ms. Volk understands the link between the nurse educator’s role and the facility’s success.

 

Tarrah Quinlan» TARRAH A. QUINLAN, RN, BSN
Sr. Director, Member Operations, Regulatory & Quality
Tarrah is an RN with over 20 years of experience in multiple healthcare settings, specializing in long-term care. She is an expert in regulatory compliance, with experience as a nursing home surveyor and, most recently, serving as the Director of the Bureau of Quality Assurance and Surveillance at the NYSDOH. In her role as Director, she oversaw the NYSDOH Nurse Aide Training Program.
