This four-day course is offered to Nurse Instructors and Educators who work as staff developers in skilled nursing facilities. The Foundation for Quality Care will provide the opportunity to learn new skills, fine-tune existing knowledge, explore adult learning strategies, and operationalize the skills and competencies that are needed to be an effective Nurse Educator in today’s SNF setting. This course utilizes adult learning principles and computer technology to enhance current educational and research practices. Participants who successfully complete the course can receive college credits from the SUNY Polytechnic Institute. This program has been approved by the New York State Department of Health to meet the “train-the-trainer” requirements for the Nurse Aide Training Program thus increasing the number of instructors available to train certified nurses aides, in an ever growing segment of the long term care workforce.
